RUG CARE AND MAINTENANCE

DO’S

  • Use vacuum lightly or lint roller. Refrain from using a vacuum cleaner with a rotary brush nozzle on long pile rugs to avoid risk of damaging the yarn and the twisted threads.
  • Remove stains immediately.
  • Rotate your rug to get a more even exposure to sunlight and wear.

DONT’S

  • Do not pull loose or protruding ends of the yarn; instead neatly clip with a pair of scissors.
  • Hand tufted rugs are meant for indoor use only, so make sure you avoid using in damp areas such as basements, bathrooms and kitchens. Remember, they are more ‘decorative” than useful!
  • Do not soak your rug in any liquids. Hand tufted rugs are sensitive to water so take extra care with the amount of water you use. In case of contact with water/any liquid, quickly soak up with a clean undyed cloth to dry on both sides.
  • Do not put in washing machine.

WHAT IF?

Fluff

  • A new hand tufted rug can shed excess fibers. This is normal. Such fluffing will gradually disappear over time. We recommend regular vacuuming of the rug for an initial period.

Sprouting

  • It happens and it is very common. If you see any loose ends of yarn, do not pull it instead, neatly clip with a pair of scissors.

Stains

  • Remove stains immediately.
  • With dry stains, we recommend scraping and vacuum clean the remaining bits.
  • With wet stains, lay a kitchen roll on the stain, then use lukewarm water and a cloth or sponge. Dampen the stain, soak up the water and then repeat the process until the stain is gone. Be careful not to wet the rug too much as this will affect the glue which holds the yarns in place.
